Dianne Friessen’s ministry is focused and based out of Cape Breton Island in Sydney, Nova Scotia serving among the Mi’kmaq people. Her mandate
is to inspire and empower the Mi’kmaq to take
over the Bible translation project that has already started.
Diane was initially appointed in 1997 as a CBM Strategic Associate working as a Bible Translator with Wycliffe. It was during Home Assignment in Canada in 2009, that Diane felt the call to a change in her ministry focus and is supported in this transition by both CBM & Wycliffe.
For many years, she served as a linguist/translator among the Moloko people in the Far North Province of Cameroon helping the Moloko people to develop their language and helping their churches translate the Bible into Moloko. She is excited to see that those churches are becoming more and more involved in the translation process and prays for God to make Himself known to the Moloko people.
Dianne’s sending church, Long Creek Baptist, in PEI has played a great role in supporting her as a Christian and in providing the environment to pursue missions, a desire she had since becoming a Christian in 1978. In August of 1992 she attended seminary in preparation for Bible translation ministry.
