Rev. Dr. Malcolm Card Appointed CBM Interim General Secretary

The CBM Board of Directors has appointed Rev. Dr. Malcolm Card as Interim General Secretary, effective June 1, 2010. Rev. Dr. Gary Nelson will conclude his ministry with CBM on June 30, 2010 and assume the position of President at Tyndale University College & Seminary in Toronto on July 1.

“We are pleased that Malcolm is able to serve in this important role until such time as a permanent General Secretary is appointed by the CBM Board and a transfer of responsibilities has taken place,” says Brenda Halk, CBM President.

Malcolm and his wife Patty served in Indonesia with CBM from 1974-1982. Returning to Canada, Malcolm worked at the CBM head office from 1982-1998 as Director for Africa and subsequently as Personnel Director. He then served as Senior Pastor of Woodstock Baptist Church (NB). In 2004, Malcolm and Patty were appointed by CBM to serve in Kenya in the area of leadership development. Malcolm served as Africa Team Leader and Patty as the Coordinator for CBM’s HIV and AIDS ministry, Guardians of Hope. They have recently returned home to Canada and plan to retire in the Moncton area following this assignment.
