I’d like information about one of your Global Field Staff. Where can I find their latest update, contact information or speaking schedule?
Please visit the Global Field Staff section on our website. All of our Field Staff have their own page with a bio, photo and speaking schedule if they are in Canada on home assignment.
Are you recruiting missionaries? For where? What positions?
There are always countries for which we are actively seeking new Global Field Staff. If you would like to know more about recruitments and the application process, contact the Member Care Department.
Where do you send teams on short-term mission trips?
Please visit the Short-Term Mission section of our website for a listing of current opportunities. You should begin to plan 1 year to 18 months in advance. A short-term mission trip is more about “being” than “doing”. You need to be flexible and have an open heart to learn and see what God wants to show you. No special skills are required, although we will try to use your special gift and talents.
What does The Sharing Way do? Why must donations to The Sharing Way be designated separately from CBM?
The Sharing Way (TSW) is the relief and development department of CBM. It is separate because it maintains a budget apart from CBM, a requirement of Revenue Canada due to funding it receives from CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency). TSW handles both the relief and community development ministries for CBM in response to our partners’ requests, with focus on long-term sustainable development.
What percentage of CBM’s budget is spent on administration?
CBM spends about 10.5% on administration. This covers office costs, receipting donations, financial reporting, maintaining computer systems, holding board meetings and overall administration. CBM is committed to not increasing the percentage that goes into administration, even though our budget for ministry has increased steadily over the past 6 years.
How does CBM obtain its support?
Canadian Baptist Conventions, Unions and Women’s Groups currently provide approximately 12% of our budget. We also receive some funds from investments, legacies and government grants amounting to about 8%. This leave us over 80% that we must raise from other sources such as churches and individual supporters. Your direct support is deeply appreciated. To give online now, click here.
